My neck, my back, my chiropractor works on all that.
It’s not uncommon to associate chiropractic care with neck and back relief. The spine is the center of any good chiropractor’s world, after all.
But just like there are so many unique and specific needs known only to you, there are that many more unique and specific areas of the body we want to help you achieve wellness in!
At Dr. Gena Chiropractic, a Plantation family chiropractic center, we’re here for YOU. The whole you – neck, back, and even your extremities. Our mission is to ensure that no matter where you’re experiencing discomfort, we get to the root of the issue and help you live a pain-free, healthy lifestyle.
Some of the more common issues that our patients experience in their extremities include:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
If you’ve ever worked on a computer or spent too much time texting a friend, there is a good chance you’ve experience the pangs of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the past. This syndrome is defined by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke as “occurring when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. The carpal tunnel—a narrow, rigid passageway of ligament and bones at the base of the hand—houses the median nerve and the tendons that bend the fingers. The median nerve provides feeling to the palm side of the thumb and to the index, middle, and part of the ring fingers (although not the little finger). It also controls some small muscles at the base of the thumb.”
Symptoms include burning, tingling or numbness, and Dr. Gena Chiropractic can help you alleviate these by working on the nerves in your hands and wrist – though the root of this pain often begins in your spine.
“It is important to go right to the source of the pain, rather than treat just the area that hurts,” Dr. Gena says.
Frozen Shoulder:
Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. It can occur after surgery or following an injury like a broken arm. Frozen shoulder feels exactly how it sounds – range of motion becomes limited, your joint starts to stiffen, and pain sets in.
We start by assessing the spine and its surrounding soft tissues (muscles, ligaments and tendons). Many treatment plans for frozen shoulder often involve soft tissue rehab where patients are given homework of strengthening exercises and stretches to get the best results.
Hip Pain:
As we age, our hips start to feel the pain. You may not pay much attention to your hips unless they’re starting to bother you, but this part of body is responsible for SO much – sitting, standing, walking, kicking, running, and even keeping us upright. But more often than not, that hip pain you’re feeling that is very often caused by inflammation, pinched nerves, and bursitis – can actually be stemming from something else.
That something else, is usually in your lower back and the surrounding soft tissues in that area. If this is a case, a thorough examination at Dr. Gena Chiropractic will help determine the best treatment plan for your pain, and you will also learn how chiropractic adjustments can help relieve the pain in your hips all the way down to your toes.
The bottom line? We want you to think of your spine like the trunk of a tree. The branches that extend from it; your limbs, hands, wrists, ankles, and even toes – all need a strong trunk to function optimally.
Come see us today at Dr. Gena Chiropractic, located just minutes west of Fort Lauderdale, so that ALL of you can feel well. Our hands are here to help, but your health is in your hands.
