The word “success” conjures up different meanings for different people. But for Dr. Gena, owner and founder of leading family chiropractic care office in Plantation , success is centered around living a full, happy, and most importantly - a healthy life.

But there’s a secret component that Dr. Gena adds to her daily life that is basically a guarantee for success – and she swears by it. It’s not sold in stores, and it’s not something you can borrow from a friend – it’s something that has to come from within you and be present in all that you do.

Consistency.

Ever start a new workout plan and give up after two weeks because you aren’t seeing the results you desire? Or start listening to a podcast designed to give you tips to grow your business and stop listening when you’re not rich three days later? It happens, I understand. We live in a fast society, where everyone wants what they want immediately and waiting has become obsolete.

But ask any successful person, whether it’s a financially successful CEO, a person who feels successful because her kids ended up in medical school, or the person who measures their success based on how happy they feel and they’ll all tell you the same thing: they never gave up working for their goals.

As Dr. Gena puts it, “It's time to get consistent. The only way for success in life to happen, be it in regards to your health, relationships, money, you name it, comes down to one thing: repetition over time. For example, visiting us for chiropractic care once or twice may help you feel less back pain in the moment, but visiting us over time will be the key to success for your overall health, as it takes time to work on your body’s well-being from its core: healing, feeling, adapting, and functioning at your best (without drugs or surgery).Good things take time, in anything .”

So how can you be more consistent in your life and allow yourself to reap the benefits of repetition over time? Simple! Just work on applying consistent practices to all five pillars of health and you’ll have this secret formula working for your benefit in no time

1.  Proper nutrition

One healthy meal does not a healthy body make, the same way that one “cheat” meal won’t undo all of your hard work. However, meatless Monday is a good idea as it prompts you to load up on vegetables, but if you head into a Tuesday full of fried and fatty foods, there goes your path to consistency.  Making healthier choices in your diet on a daily basis, over time, will succeed in keeping you healthy!

2. Adequate motion

Exercise may be the thorn in your side, especially after a long hard day of work, but there’s no secret that it’s necessary for good health. One walk around the block per week will not add up to much, but adding in daily methods of moving your body will add up- big time! Take the stairs instead of the elevator, choose the furthest parking spot in the lot, and grab your friends to help you stay motivated at that fun new gym class – and keep at it.

3. Ample rest

Don’t wait until Sunday to “catch up on sleep.” You’re basically cheating your body out of the time it needs to restore itself every other day of the week! Make it a priority to settle in to bed at a reasonable time each night. If you think it about it, sleeping is the easiest way to work on your health – so get cozy, consistently!

4. Maintain a positive mental attitude

This one takes work and effort, day in, day out, and at all moments. Your mind is a muscle, grown by positive thoughts – you have to work it in the right direction to see a change in your mental attitude. Bad days are a natural part of life, but so long as you don’t linger in them, a consistent focus on having a positive mental attitude will be simple!

5. Maintain a properly functioning nervous system

You brush your teeth twice a day and visit the dentist twice a year as a means of preventative oral care. What about preventative health care?  Visiting a chiropractor sporadically will not ensure your full spinal health. Make it a consistent practice – it all starts with your spine and nervous system after all!
